I am grateful to have been loved, and to be loved now and to be able to love because that liberates. Love liberates. It doesn’t just hold. That’s ego. Love liberates.
We all want to love and be loved. We also want to do right, and sometimes no matter how hard we try, we still choose wrong. To do wrong when we don’t know any better is a mistake. But there are times that we do know what’s right, but we do wrong anyway, and that is sin.
Sin shades our inner lives with guilt and shame. We know we should’ve done better, but didn’t. The memory enslaves us to power of sin until we surrender to a power that’s even greater.
The solution to sin is love. God is love. God loved you so much that he sent His Son to die for you. Christ died so that you can be set free from the power of sin.
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
1 John 4:9-12 (NLT)
God wants us to find ultimate satisfaction, being like-minded, and having the same love as Christ. By accepting Christ into our lives, His love liberates us through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are free to love others as Christ loved us.
If Jesus didn’t condemn us, who are we to condemn others or ourselves? Jesus cancelled the record of debt against all of us when he laid down his life for us. He took our shame, guilt and sin and nailed it to the cross so that we could live in freedom.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:36 (NIV)
In our freedom, we are called to serve one other another in love. Love encourages and builds each other up. Love forgives, just as God forgives us. Love humbles us while honoring others Love rejoices with truth. Love protects & perseveres. Love liberates.
