About Community Care
The heart of the Community Care ministry is to love and value people at their point of need, to offer assistance in their time of crisis, and to show the love of Jesus Christ. We foster positive community transformation by supporting community outreach, helping to determine the need within the community, acting as an integration point between outreach teams and working to mobilize our people locally to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs identified.
Want To Get Involved?
There are multiple ways to get involved in community outreach, in Leduc and the surrounding area. City Life team members are actively involved in the following outreach activities:
- My Single Parents Closet
This outreach exists to empower single parents in the Leduc area to provide the best for their children. It provides free garage sales, four times a year, that include clothing, shoes, toys and more for children – newborn to teen. Volunteers are required on a weekly basis as well as on event day.
To get involved or to donate, visit My Single Parent’s Closet Facebook page.
- Mark IV Ministries
Mark IV ministries is a feeding program founded and run by the Krischke family. The purpose is to bring meals to individuals who find themselves hungry and unsheltered. Once a month, meals are prepared and taken out to the streets, serving approximately 200 meals each month. If you are interested in partnering with this purpose, individuals are welcome each month to help prepare and/or serve the food; or, equally important, to provide financial and/or food donations.
- Women’s Prison Ministry
There are more than 150 women at the Edmonton Institution for Women (women’s prison). The majority of these women are far away from their families and friends and are isolated. They are in a hard environment with a lot of time on their hands. It is the perfect opportunity for them to have an impacting encounter with Jesus. He has a plan and a purpose for each of those women and you can be a part of it! There are many ways you can serve these women including preparing or donating to toiletry gift bags, writing encouraging cards and letters, praying or one on one coaching.
- Mustard Seed
The Mustard Seed is a Christian, not-for-profit organization that delivers basic services, including the provision of six evening meals per week, clothing, and personal items to those in need. It also partners with the wider Edmonton community to address poverty. There are many ways to get involved including preparing and serving meals or snacks, sorting donations or gathering donations of the items most needed.
For more information on one or more of these outreach programs, or for individual opportunities to serve, please contact the Community Care team by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
